What is Air Duct Cleaning? |
|
|
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.),
air duct cleaning generally refers to the cleaning of various heating
system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return
air ducts and trunk lines , heat exchangers, cooling coils, condensate
drain pans, fan motors and fan housing, and the air handling housing. |
|
2. |
Why is it important to clean my air ducts? |
|
|
The EPA states that if not properly installed, maintained,
and operated components of forced air systems may become contaminated with
dust, pollen or other debris. When moisture is present, the potential for
microbiological growth, mold or fungi is possible. Chemical biocides
designed to kill microbiological contaminates after the HVAC has been
fully cleaned by a qualified cleaning contactor. |
|
3. |
What happens if I use an Air Duct cleaner who is not
qualified? |
|
|
It is recommended to use a NADCA certified service company
to ensure proper air duct cleaning procedures are followed. Inadequate
vacuum collection systems can release more debris into your home.
Inadequately trained technicians or careless procedures may cost you more
money in repairs and worsen the indoor air quality. |
